About Minecraft: Villages

Villages in Minecraft spawn in desert and grassland biomes and they include a bunch of houses and other buildings.

They can have multiple houses including:

Huts: made of Logs and wooden planks for the roof and walls, cobblestone for the floors, and sometimes dirt, with glass panes for windows. Some also have roof balconies with fences surrounding the roof.

Houses, which are made of the same materials as small huts. However, they are larger in size and L-shaped.

Bar: Larger than huts and have a bar made of stone slabs, tables made of a fence and pressure plate and chairs made of stairs. They also have backyards with fences and the housr structure is made from the same materials as the houses.

Libraries: Long buildings with window panes, roofs made of wooden planks and cobblestone, floors made of cobblestone and walls made of wooden planks. They also have bookcases attached to the roof of the house hanging inside with multiple chairs and tables. They also contain a crafting table, so you can craft things easier.

Wheat farms: Wheat farms usually occur multiple times in villages. Each wheat farm is 5x7 blocks long with 1 strip of the blocks being water. Wheat farms are surrounded by logs but are no fences or block high enough to keep mobs out, so the fields can get trampled.

Wells: Wells are small, 2x2 blocks wide but 10 blocks deep and contain water. They also have a roof made of fences and cobblestone and are an efficient source of water. 

Smitheries: By far the most unusual building, made of cobblestone with fence poles out the front of the building. Its most unique feature, however is the presence of lava, 2 furnaces and iron bars. Far different from any other building. They also have a separate room located at the back of the smithery.

Church: Churches are made solely of cobblestone and glass panes,though they have stairs as a praying area and a ladder that leads to the first floor and the tower at the top.

Extras: Lamp posts are made of stacked fences, a piece of wool and four torches on each side.

 Gravel roads lead around the villages and serve only to lead from one building to another.

Future: In  the 1.9 updates there will be villagers, they will have seperate jobs based on which cloak they wear.
